Large community clean-up in Efoulan: over 500 kg of waste collected

Residents and ARDTTEMP volunteers gathered during the large Efoulan community clean-up

On Saturday 9 May 2026, more than 80 residents of the Efoulan neighbourhood in Yaoundé answered ARDTTEMP's call to take part in a large plastic waste collection drive. In a single morning, over 500 kg of bags and plastic packaging were collected, sorted and transported to our sorting centre.

A mobilisation driven by the community

Organised in partnership with local neighbourhood leaders and youth associations, this clean-up continues the systematic operations ARDTTEMP has been running since its founding in 2024. Equipped with gloves and collection bags, volunteers covered streets, market areas and the banks of a nearby stream — all heavily affected by plastic waste accumulation.

"Every bag picked up today is a resource for tomorrow: it will become a PET flake or an eco-friendly paving stone."

What happens next?

The collected waste now enters our valorisation chain: sorting by material type, washing, then transformation into PET flakes or eco-friendly paving stones and tiles. The revenue generated directly funds our social programmes, including the "One Youth, One Diploma" project.

ARDTTEMP warmly thanks all Efoulan residents for their commitment, and looks forward to seeing everyone at the next quarterly collection drive in another Yaoundé neighbourhood.
